Mark Jarrett, MD, MBA, MS, is Senior Vice President, Chief Quality Officer and Associate Chief Medical Officer at Northwell Health, as well as a Professor of Medicine at Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine and a Fellows Ambassador at The New York Academy of Medicine.
In addition to being an expert in the quality and safety of patient care, Dr. Jarrett is part of national panel of medical experts investigating security and privacy issues related to medical records.
As presidential election 2016 draws to a close, Dr. Jarrett is currently speaking out about the burdensome health care costs faced by patients (he is also a rheumatologist) seeking care and insurance coverage.
As Chief Quality Officer for Northwell Health, Dr. Jarrett is responsible for system-wide initiatives in quality and safety. He previously served as Chief Medical Officer and DIO at Staten Island University Hospital (SIUH). Prior to that appointment, Dr. Jarrett was Director of Rheumatology at SIUH from 1982 until 1999. He was senior partner in a five-member Rheumatology practice for 30 years. Dr. Jarrett is professor of medicine at the Hofstra Northwell School of Medicine. He has extensive research experience, and has been published on the subject of the immune response in systemic lupus erythematosus.
Dr. Jarrett is board certified in internal medicine, rheumatology, and geriatrics. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians and the American College of Rheumatology, and past president of the Richmond County Medical Society. Dr. Jarrett earned his medical degree from New York University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Montefiore Medical Center, and a fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center and Albert Einstein College of Medicine. Dr.Jarrett also holds an MBA from Wagner College, Staten Island, NY, and a Masters of Science in Medical Informatics from Northwestern University.
