Newswise — CHICAGO --- Critical legal, ethical, financial and political issues that affect high-profile litigation will be the focus during the upcoming Contemporary Issues in Complex Litigation conference hosted by Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law.

The conference will be held Nov. 16 and 17 at the Law School, Rubloff Building, Room 150, 375 E. Chicago Ave. Leading practitioners, academics, federal judges, and private practice and private industry lawyers will discuss contemporary issues in complex litigation. 

Conference highlights:  •An interview with Chief Judge Diane Wood, U.S. Court of Appeals for the 7th Circuit, by Linda Coberly, Chicago managing partner, Winston & Strawn, at 1:15 p.m., Wednesday, Nov. 16. •Panel discussion: “Interplay Among Courts, the Parties, Counsel and Media in High Stakes Litigation” at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 17. The discussion will include Judge Amy St. Eve of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois in addition to legal practitioners. •Panel discussion: Critical legal issues in contemporary litigation. This panel will include Judge Richard C. Tallman of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 9th Circuit and Judge Gary Feinerman of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois. •Panel discussion: “Current Issues in Class Actions” will feature Northwestern Law Professor Martin Redish, the Louis and Harriet Ancel Professor of Law and Public Policy, and Judge John Z. Lee of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois.

“It is important from not only an academic, but from a public perspective, that judges, academics, practitioners and lawyers for public companies discuss the issues that they are facing and how best to address them,” said Abby Mollen, a lecturer at the Law School and a partner with Bartlit Beck Herman Palenchar & Scott LLP. “We are pleased that the participants have allowed Northwestern Pritzker School of Law to be a vehicle for that discussion.”

Mollen and Adam Hoeflich, professor of practice at the Law School, are co-chairs of the conference.
