Phillips School of Nursing Receives National Accreditation for Baccalaureate Degree Program
Newswise — (NEW YORK — November 15, 2016) The Phillips School of Nursing (PSON) at Mount Sinai Beth Israel announced today that its registered nurse (RN) to bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) program has been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a period of five years, through December 31, 2021. CCNE is a national accreditation agency recognized by the U.S. Secretary of Education to identify and assess the quality and integrity of baccalaureate, graduate, and residency programs in nursing.

Ambrosia, DNP, MSN, RN, FNP-BC, FNAP, Dean of PSON. “CCNE accreditation is an indication of a program’s quality and excellence. We are proud to offer this next level of nursing education to students seeking an advanced career. This accreditation is possible with the partnership of our administration, faculty, and staff who worked diligently to achieve this recognition.”
With the Bureau of Labor Statistics projecting the need for more than 580,000 new and replacement registered nurses by the year 2018, PSON’s RN to BSN program addresses the needs of nurses who wish to pursue advanced study in specialty clinical settings such as critical care/emergency department and perioperative care. These specialties are in high demand and require education beyond what is taught in associate degree programs. The program offers an innovative, personalized approach that builds on previous learning experiences and transitions individuals with undergraduate degrees in other disciplines into nursing. PSON is currently accepting applications for the spring 2017 semester.
