Newswise — AMES, Iowa – Iowa State University and Drake University Law School faculty are coming together to discuss recent issues surrounding the U.S. Supreme Court.
Join “Controversy and the U.S. Supreme Court” at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 3, in Iowa State’s Memorial Union Sun Room. This Constitution Day event is free and open to the public.
Discussion will revolve around recent Supreme Court rulings on gerrymandering, the travel ban and the right to refuse service for religious reasons. They will also discuss any shift in the balance of the court caused by the retirement of Justice Anthony Kennedy and the nomination of Brett Kavanaugh.
Participants will include Dirk Deam, ISU senior lecturer in political science; Clark Wolf, ISU Bioethics Program director, professor of philosophy and expert in philosophy of the law; and Mark Kende, director of the Drake Constitutional Law Center and the James Madison Chair in Constitutional Law.
