Newswise — Jan. 15, 2019 — The MBA Online program at the University of Utah David Eccles School of Business has been ranked top 20 in the nation in the 2019 U.S. News & World Report Best Online MBA rankings, landing at No. 17 overall and No. 4 in the West. This ranking represents an eight-spot jump from the 2018 rankings and a 25-spot cumulative jump over the past two years.

More than half of the ranking is determined by various aspects of the student experience, including engagement, student excellence and the strength of a school’s student services and technologies.

“We are grateful to have our MBA Online program recognized by U.S. News & World Report once again,” said Taylor Randall, dean of the David Eccles School of Business. “This ranking serves as a strong indicator of the quality of our program and is a testament to the coordinated efforts of faculty, staff and administrators to ensure that our online students receive a rigorous graduate business education that serves both them and their employers well.”

In addition to the student experience, the ranking also considers expert opinions from a survey of high-ranking officials at MBA programs nationwide as well as faculty credentials and training.

“Having taken some online classes before, I expected a camera set up in a classroom, and that isn't at all the case. The University of Utah has taken the time to do it right. Every single quality professor at the Eccles School is involved in the program and is there for your use and for your educational enrichment,” said Rene Daniels, a graduate of the MBA Online program and Director of Leasing at Starwood Retail Partners, LLC.

The U.S. News & World Report ranking comes on the heels of a No. 11 world ranking by the Princeton Review.

“We are truly proud of the recognition of our MBA Online program. These rankings celebrate aspects of our highly interactive program that we value: a high degree of connection between faculty and students, admissions selectivity, and a world-class student experience,” said Brad Vierig, associate dean of MBA programs and Executive Education at the Eccles School. “Our success as an online MBA program derives from students’ ability to access the resources they need from our dedicated faculty and staff, as well as the fact that we are providing customizable education that allows them to add nearly immediate value at work.”
