Newswise — Babson College has named Dr. Shakenna K. Williams Director of the Center for Women’s Entrepreneurial Leadership Global Initiative at Babson College. 

She is the former Deputy Academic Director and Lead Faculty Director of the Goldman Sachs 10,000 Small Businesses Program at Babson College

Williams received her doctorate from Capella University, writing her dissertation: “Talent management and retention in small family-owned businesses: A multiple-case qualitative study”.  She received her MBA in Integrated Marketing and Communications from Oklahoma City University, and a B.S. in Finance and Investments from Babson College. 

Williams is an active community member who volunteers with many organizations that encourage women and young girls to pursue higher education.  She has more than 10 years of experience as owner and planner of 2 entrepreneurial ventures and more than 15 years of experience in conducting Master’s and undergraduate-level courses and adult educational training programs. 

Williams has an extensive work background ranging from Development Officer at Smith College to Sales Representative at Pfizer.

Williams is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc.; The Links, Inc.; and the Institute of Management Consultants, among others. 

She enjoys interacting with youth and nonprofits.  In addition, she offers guidance to business owners regarding entrepreneurship and community development.
