Michael Saag, a professor of medicine and director of the Center for AIDS Research at UAB, has made seminal discoveries in the genetic evolution of HIV. His work focuses on new drug development, translation of basic science findings into clinical practice principles and the long-term outcomes of therapy. He moderated the first of five White House Office of National AIDS Policy dialogues on the National HIV/AIDS Strategy in 2011.
