Newswise — Nathan Wolfe, author of The Viral Storm, will give a public talk on Virus Hunting and Exploratory Research on Fri., March 29, 10 a.m., Eisner and Lubin Auditorium (4th floor), at NYU’s Kimmel Center for University Life (60 Washington Square South [at LaGuardia Place]).
The event, the keynote address at the Liberal Studies and College of Global Public Health 2019 Student Research Colloquium, is free and open to the public.
“Virus Hunter” Nathan Wolfe, named one of TIME’s 100 Most Influential People in 2011, travels the world to track, study, and eradicate the next pandemic before it strikes. Wolfe draws on his breakthrough discoveries to tell us where viruses come from, why they spread, and how to stop them. According to WIRED magazine, “Wolfe’s brand of globe-trotting echoes an almost Victorian scientific ethic, an expedition to catalog the unseen menagerie of the world.” His debut book, The Viral Storm, which sheds light on the often overlooked but ultimately critical field of microbiology, was published in six languages and shortlisted for the Royal Society’s Winton Prize.
Wolfe is the founder & CEO of Metabiota, a risk analytics company, and holds the Lorry I. Lokey Business Wire Consulting Professorship in Human Biology at Stanford University.
