Newswise — Arizona State University’s College of Health Solutions will host Rear Admiral (RADM) Michael D. Weahkee, Principal Deputy Director of Indian Health Service, on Thursday, April 11 at 3:30 p.m. at ASU’s Downtown Phoenix Campus.

RADM Weahkee will present on the topic, “Raising the Physical, Mental, Social and Spiritual Health of American Indians and Alaska Natives.”

As Principal Deputy Director of Indian Health Service, RADM Weahkee administers a nationwide health care delivery program that is responsible for providing preventive, curative and community health care for approximately 2.2 million American Indians and Alaska Natives in hospitals, clinics and other settings throughout the United States.

Previously, RADM Weakhee served as chief executive officer for the Phoenix Indian Medical Center, the largest federally-operated facility in the Indian Health Service, which provides direct health care services to more than 140,000 tribe members. Weakhee earned two graduate degrees at Arizona State University; a Master of Health Services Administration and Master of Business Administration.
