Debra S. Dyer, MD, FACR Appointed to GO2 Foundation for Lung Cancer Scientific Leadership Board

Reston, VA (April 16, 2019) – The GO₂ Foundation for Lung Cancer has appointed American College of Radiology (ACR) Lung Cancer Screening 2.0 (LCS 2.0) Subcommittee chair Debra S. Dyer, MD, FACR, to its Scientific Leadership Board. The Bonnie J. Addario Lung Cancer Foundation and Lung Cancer Alliance recently merged to form the new foundation, which serves and advocates for the needs of the lung cancer community.

GO₂ Foundation team members and partners from around the country connect to empower those impacted by lung cancer both locally and globally. As a thoracic radiologist at National Jewish Health, Dyer can provide valuable insight, especially with respect to early detection and prevention.

Together, we can give patients hope, propel innovative research and open doors for patients to gain more control of their health and improve their quality of life,” said Dr. Dyer, chair of the Department of Radiology at National Jewish Health.

Lung cancer is a leading cause of cancer death in the United States, primarily because many patients go undiagnosed until symptoms arise in the later stages of the disease. Research shows that early screening with low-dose computed tomography (LDCT) can reduce lung cancer mortality by up to 26 percent among smokers. Yet only two to four percent of the eligible population is actually getting screened.

The GO₂ Foundation aims to be the “go-to” local and global resource and advocate for the millions of people who are vulnerable, at risk, diagnosed, or otherwise impacted by or impacting lung cancer. With over 30 years of patient-centered experience, the foundation hopes to make a profound impact on survival through expanded support services, research, advocacy, community engagement and excellence in screening and care programs to serve the needs of the lung cancer community.
