Sheng Lu, Associate Professor of Fashion and Apparel Studies, can comment on Donald Trump's threat this week to open up a trade war with China.

In a recent study, Lu evaluated how a U.S.-China tariff war would affect textile and apparel manufacturing in the U.S. and related trade flows. The scenarios he studied included a 25% tariff imposed on all U.S. imports from China, which is exactly what President Trump threatened to do this past weekend.

Lu has also been following U.S. fashion brands and retailers’ shifting sourcing strategy in response to the looming U.S.-China trade war as well as what is happening in China’s textile and apparel industry.
