New Brunswick, N.J. (September 5, 2019) – R. Daniel Kelemen, a Rutgers University–New Brunswick professor of political science and expert in E.U. politics, is available to comment on the latest developments regarding Brexit.

“With the Brexit deadline looming on October 31, Parliament is moving to block Boris Johnson from crashing the UK out of the EU without a deal,” Kelemen said. “While Parliament is promising to force Johnson to request a Brexit extension from the EU if he cannot reach a deal in October, it remains possible that he will try to defy Parliament. With Johnson having lost his majority in Parliament, there will need to be a general election soon: the key question now is whether the election will be held before or after the October 31 Brexit deadline."
