Newswise — For 37 years, Cowboys for Cancer Research has been fundraising to support the fight against cancer. The non-profit group raises funds for research through donations, endowment funds and events like the upcoming Dinner-Dance-Silent Auction on October 4 in Las Cruces.

In the past six years alone, Cowboys for Cancer Research has raised about $2.5 million for immediate use in cancer research. The group’s efforts have enabled world-class researchers in New Mexico to conduct pilot studies that test new ways to combat cancer, and some of those efforts are now paying off.

“It will be an evening of good food, good fellowship and good music,” says Geraldine Calhoun, Cowboys for Cancer Research Co-Executive Director. Proceeds from the event fund innovative cancer research at The University of New Mexico Comprehensive Cancer Center and at New Mexico State University.

Cowboys for Cancer Research will host a dinner, dance and silent auction on October 4 at the Las Cruces Convention Center, 680 E. University Blvd, Las Cruces, NM. Doors open at 5:30 pm. For more information and to make reservations, call 575-642-5696.
