New Brunswick, N.J. (Dec 13, 2019) – Rutgers scholar Dafna Lemish, author of Children and Media: A Global Perspective, is available to discuss how families should handle children’s screen time during the holidays.

“The holiday season and harsh weather often lead to families spending more time at home, and engaging more with TVs, computers, tablets and mobile phones,” Lemish said. “Screens can entertain and enrich children’s lives and offer parents much deserved downtime away. But they can also be harmful by overstimulating young brains, teaching violent behaviors, encouraging unhealthy eating habits, etc. This is why using screens mindfully, in an age appropriate way and according to your family’s values and needs, becomes such an important consideration, particularly at this time of the year.”

Lemish is a distinguished professor and the associate dean for programs at Rutgers’ School of Communication and Information. She is internationally known for her scholarship on children and media. Lemish is available for interviews until December 24, 2019.
