Newswise — The Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHSON) is the No. 3 nursing school in the world, according to the 2020 QS World University Rankings, solidifying its global recognition, prominence in the field, and dedication to local to global impact. The school is also ranked No. 1 by U.S. News & World Report for its master’s and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) programs and No. 2 for its online master’s degree in nursing administration.

Throughout 2019, JHSON’s research has been on the forefront in aging, infectious disease, community and population health, social determinants of health, women’s health, pediatrics, violence, cardiovascular care, and numerous other areas. Among full-time faculty, 97 percent have doctoral degrees with which they conduct research and develop practice solutions to improve clinical and community outcomes.
Globally, the school fosters 34 collaborations with international nursing and medical schools in 25 countries and works in Guatemala, Haiti, the Democratic Republic of Congo, and other areas to advance sustainable community health improvements. JHSON serves as Secretariat for the Global Network for WHO Collaborating Centers for Nursing & Midwifery.
In addition, this year saw faculty inductions into Sigma’s International Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame, Assistant Dean Kenneth Dion became Sigma’s President-Elect, and the school received INSIGHT Into Diversity magazine’s Health Professions Higher Education Excellence in Diversity Award.
