Newswise — For the third consecutive year, the Johns Hopkins School of Nursing (JHSON) is the No. 1 accredited master’s nursing program in the country, according to 2021 U.S. News & World Report rankings. It is ranked No. 3 for its Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP) program and top-ranked across the board within specialty rankings.
“We are truly proud of this ranking and the spotlight it puts on the hard work that is the backbone to our success in education, research, and practice,” says JHSON Dean Patricia Davidson, PhD, MEd, RN, FAAN. “Our continued No. 1 ranking shows stability in the quality and excellence of our programs, mission, and opportunity for students.”

Throughout 2019, JHSON’s research continued to grow with increasing numbers of faculty publications in areas including aging, pediatrics, family health, infectious disease, social determinants of health, violence, cardiovascular care, and numerous other areas. The school was named a National League for Nursing (NLN) Center of Excellence in Nursing Education.
To further expand its DNP program, JHSON launched a nurse anesthesiology advanced practice option and continued to expand its online presence across programs. It was recognized as a 2019 Best School for Men in Nursing and a HEED Award winner for excellence in diversity, equity, and inclusion. The school also remained top-ranked within QS World University global nursing school rankings and for online education in the U.S.
Within faculty, eight were inducted as American Academy of Nursing fellows, many received global and distinguished health care awards, and Assistant Dean Kenneth Dion, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, became President-elect of Sigma, one of the world’s most prestigious health care organizations.
