Major cities around the United States will struggle with a deadly combination of heat waves and COVID-19 in the coming weeks, warns a new blog by climate change expert Sabrina McCormick. McCormick, an associate professor of environmental and occupational health at GW Milken Institute School of Public Health, says the double jeopardy of heat and COVID-19 will be particularly risky for the Black and Latino communities, as well as people living in crowded urban housing without the benefits of AC or outdoor green spaces, which are cooler.
