What: The webinar “Disseminating Facts, Dispelling Myths – Building COVID Vaccine Confidence in Communities” hosted by the American Journal of Nursing (AJN) explores why many Americans are hesitant to receive a COVID-19 vaccination and looks at the primary reasons for worry, including misinformation about side effects, lack of trust, and the rapid development of the vaccines. Grounded in fact, the webinar will address prevalent myths and facilitate a discussion of nurses’ first-hand experiences working with communities in providing public health information.
Attendees will learn how to identify science-verified facts about the development, effectiveness and safety of the COVID-19 vaccines; describe reasons for hesitancy and why individuals and communities may have specific concerns and mistrust; and explain ‘best practices’ in providing accurate information to communities.
AJN’s Editor in Chief Maureen Shawn Kennedy, MA, RN, FAAN, will host the event and the panel discussion will be moderated by public health nurse and media strategist Barbara Glickstein, MPH, MS, RN. The webinar will also feature a presentation from Capt. Janell Routh, MD, MHS, Co-Deputy, Vaccine Implementation Unit, Vaccine Task Force, Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
