As executive director of Salisbury University’s Institute for Public Affairs and Civic Engagement (PACE), Dr. Adam Hoffman oversees the Presidential Citizen Scholars program, including a for-credit class that spearheads student voter registration efforts. He also is planning presidential debate watch nights using “clicker” technology to gauge immediate student reactions and two forums on Maryland ballot initiatives (gay marriage and the Dream Act). For Hoffman upcoming presidential and state elections offer many opportunities to engage students in the political process.

Hoffman earned a Ph.D. in political science and a J.D. Faculty in SU’s Political Science Department, his teaching interests include American politics, campaigns and elections, race and politics, public opinion, research methodology and state and local government. His dissertation examined the impact of campaign contributions on state legislators. He has written in the Journal of Politics on open primaries and representation. He has worked in the Maryland and New York State legislatures and in Washington, D.C.
