The vote by America’s Ophthalmologists is based on hospital reputation. Physicians were asked where they would refer their patients who have the most complex disorders. Wills Eye Hospital, established in 1832 as the nation’s first hospital specializing exclusively in eye care, is a global leader in ophthalmology, and has also been voted #1 in the nation for its outstanding academic residency training program – again, chosen by physicians.
