Newswise — Reston, Va. (April 14, 2014) — Best-selling author and renowned business thinker Clayton M. Christensen, DBA, the Kim B. Clark Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School, will deliver the keynote address at the American College of Radiology’s Radiology Leadership Institute® 2014 RLI Leadership Summit on Aug. 7, 2014. The Summit will take place Aug. 7-10 at Babson College in Wellesley, Mass., and will focus on leadership development and business skills for today’s radiologist.

“Developing capable leaders in radiology is essential as we work together to address the ongoing challenges and opportunities facing the field,” said Cynthia S. Sherry, MD, FACR, medical director of the RLI and chair of the ACR Commission on Leadership and Practice Development. “We are thrilled that Professor Christensen will deliver the keynote address at this year’s event. He has a wealth of expertise in growth and innovation, topics especially relevant in radiology today. I am certain that his presentation will be an event highlight.”

Christensen, who was recently named the most influential business thinker in the world, will speak to the topic of Disruptive Innovation in Healthcare. The concept of disruptive innovation is the foundation for the Clayton Christensen Institute, a think tank that focuses on using innovation to address issues in areas such as education and health care.

The Innovator’s Dilemma received the Global Business Book Award as the best business book of the year in 1997, and, in 2011, The Economist named it as one of the six most important books about business ever written. His other articles and books have received the Abernathy, Newcomen, James Madison and Circle Prizes.

The RLI Leadership Summit combines radiology experts with distinguished business school faculty to provide real-world training that can be put into immediate practice. Featured topics at the 2014 event include big data and analytics, medical vs. business innovation and social media.
