Get your expert in the “first-day” story with Expert Pitch. Respond quickly to breaking news with a brief pitch about your expert, bypassing the need to write an extensive news release. Your pitch will be sent out to reporters via social media feeds including @Expert_Pitch on Twitter, Facebook, and the Expert Pitch section.  Newswise members, click “Contribute an Expert Pitch” in the site menu to submit your expert.

Expert Pitch is intended for response to breaking news events covered by major media outlets.  For other ways to promote your experts, see Expert Feature below.

• Who: Provide the expert’s name, title, affiliation.

• What: Describe your expert’s area of expertise and the current news story they can comment on.

• Why: Detail some of your expert’s unique credentials, and if possible, include some quotations, a head shot, and info on the expert’s media training. (optional)

The Expert Feature type news release is intended for fully written news releases about your experts, such as a researcher with a book being published, or an op-ed written by a professor.  This type of article is typically about your researcher or institution, without being directly in response to a national breaking news story.  To submit an expert feature, choose the “Feature” story type on the Newswise contribution form.

Reporters may submit an Expert Query to request a source to comment in a piece they are currently writing.  The Expert Query request is then emailed to Newswise members, who can respond directly to the reporter.  Newswise members can request to receive Expert Queries by contacting our staff at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address).

Releases may be included in the Feature and Breaking News Channels, which are special sections organized by topic.  Any news release posted on Newswise relevant to a Breaking or Feature News Channel topic may be added to these sections, increasing the exposure of your news to journalists browsing the Newswise site.

Promote Your Meeting with a Newswise Meeting Wire

Meeting Wires are an opportunity for medical and scientific associations to showcase their latest research findings.  Newswise members can request an exclusive wire containing only their press releases related to the Meeting, to be distributed to journalists on a selected day.

Theme Wires Focus on a Specific Issue, Campaign, Season, or Event

Theme Wires provide additional distribution opportunities, with focused topics tied to timely events.  Submit a press release for a Theme Wire to promote specific research, experts, and feature news related to the wire topic.

Expert Queries - Interview Requests from Reporters

Newswise provides an Expert Query feature for our registered media users.  They submit a request for an expert to interview, with a brief explanation for the topic of the interview and their assignment, and they indicate whether they would like to be contacted by phone or email.  Newswise then sends this request to eligible Newswise members - Non-profits and higher education institutions.  If you would like more information on Expert Queries and how to sign up for them, please contact us at (JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
