Democratic presidential primary elections are taking place today in Arizona, Florida and Illinois, in spite of the coronavirus outbreak, while the election in Ohio has been postponed.

IU Professor Emerita Marjorie Hershey is available to comment on how the virus could affect the primaries and how elections throughout the United States' history have been affected by other crises. Hershey writes a widely used textbook on political parties, "Party Politics in America," which is now in its 17th edition, and its associated blog posts.
