Shannon Harper, assistant professor of criminal justice in the sociology department and the U.S. Latino/a Studies Program at Iowa State University, is available to talk about anti-Asian hate crimes and discrimination during the COVID-19 pandemic and its link to past health crises.

Harper and a team of researchers recently published a study looking at how anti-Asian hate crimes during the COVID-19 pandemic have furthered the historical “othering” of Asian Americans and reproduced inequalities. https://www.newswise.com/coronavirus/anti-asian-racism-during-covid-19-has-historical-ties-in-united-states/?article_id=735530
