Just in time for children returning to school this fall, Baylor Scott & White Health has launched an at-home monitoring service for children diagnosed with COVID-19. The service has been offered for adults since April.

If you are interested in a story, we can provide you with interviews and visuals:

  • B-roll of patients using the app
  • Screenshots of the questions patients receive twice daily from our care team
  • A TVU/Zoom/WebEx interview with Dr. Ashis Barad, pediatric gastroenterologist at Baylor Scott & White McLane Children’s Medical Center
  • A TVU/Zoom/WebEx interview with Dr. Tiffany Berry, our chief medical officer of the Baylor Scott & White Quality Alliance, and a mother of school-aged children. Dr. Berry led the effort to bring this at-home monitoring service online and can share some ways it has made a difference for our patients.

A few points that you are welcome to include in the story:

As the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) points out, the vast majority of people diagnosed with COVID-19 have mild illness and are able to recover at home. The CDC provides guidance for those going through the illness in isolation.

Our neighbors might be treating at home in isolation, but we don’t want them to feel alone: With the expansion of telehealth that has occurred this year, our care team can communicate regularly with patients treating COVID-19 at home, to help them as the illness runs its course.

Since launching this at-home monitoring service, we have helped more than 15,000 adults who treated their illness at home. Now, our service has expanded to serve pediatric patients and, so far, more than 150 children under the age of 18 have been supported at home by our care teams.

This service is available to all. Users do not have to be a Baylor Scott & White patient prior to downloading the app, as a medical record is created when users begin the process.
