A Rutgers epidemiologist is available to discuss the new coronavirus variant which has now been confirmed in New Jersey. The variant was earlier reported in the United Kingdom.

“It was inevitable that the new and more contagious strain of the coronavirus would have found its way to New Jersey,” said Stanley H. Weiss, professor at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School and Rutgers School of Public Health. “We need to move as quickly as we can to speed up vaccinations efforts in the state as well nationally in order to curb this new strain and reduce the chance for new variants to arise.”
