The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently approved an obesity treatment device, AspireAssist. The device, which consists of a tube placed inside the user’s stomach and connected to a pump, is designed to encourage the patient to drain a portion of the content after every meal in order to assist with weight loss—essentially enabling purging.
