The Final Presidential Debate: American University Experts Available for Post-Debate Commentary

WHAT: American University has political communication and presidential rhetoric experts available to comment on tonight’s final presidential debate. This is the last time the two presidential candidates will face off while millions of votes have already been cast.

WHO:

  • Bob Lehrman is an adjunct professor of Public Communication in AU’s School of Communication. He is a novelist, teacher, and speechwriter for dozens of Democratic political figures including Vice President Al Gore. He is the author of The Political Speechwriter’s Companion and has taught public speaking and speechwriting at American University for over two decades.
  • Eric Schnure, adjunct professor of Public Communication in AU’s School of Communication. A former speechwriter for Vice President Al Gore, who has been called one of Washington’s “most sought-after political humor writers,” he is a freelance writer and communications consultant. A graduate of Hobart College and the London School of Economics, Schnure started speechwriting for Gore in 1993. Prior to opening his own firm in the fall of 2013, Eric served as Director of Executive Communications at GE, was a senior communications advisor and speechwriter to the head of NASA, and a deputy assistant secretary at HUD.
