The U.S. Supreme Court announced a landmark decision this morning protecting the rights of LGBTQ workers. In a 6-3 decision, the court ruled that employers who discriminate against gay and transgender workers are in violation of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, which prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex.

Steve Sanders, professor in the Indiana University Maurer School of Law, adjunct professor in the Department of Political Science, and affiliated faculty in the Department of Gender Studies and The Kinsey Institute, is available for comment. Sanders is a constitutional law expert whose research focuses on questions arising out of the 14th Amendment's guarantees of equal protection and due process, with a special focus on issues affecting LGBTQ people and same-sex couples.

Sanders has already shared some initial thoughts about today's Supreme Court decision in a post on Medium.
