Rutgers University experts are available to discuss last night’s presidential debate.

Baker said: “The debate was the most disheartening 90 minutes in the history of the presidency. It was an effort on the president’s part to make the election into something unclean. Parts of the president’s outbursts were truly terrifying, especially his words of encouragement to his followers to invade polling places in the effort to secure his victory.”

Baker is a former research associate at the Brookings Institution who has served as a consultant and resident scholar for Democrats in the House and Senate.

Friedman said: “President Trump’s unwillingness to condemn white supremacy outright and his pandering to supremacist groups such as Proud Boys is more than political maneuvering. It’s more than simply an isolated racist act of power. Instead, it is history repeating itself and is an affront to civil rights as human rights. Remember George Wallace? Everyone should be concerned.”

Friedman is an expert on prisons, incarceration, and Black protest. She is a faculty affiliate of criminal justice program and the Center for Security, Race, and Rights.
