Newswise — (June 11, 2014: Toronto) The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, together with presenting sponsor Harry Rosen Inc., is pleased to announce that the inaugural Golf to Conquer Cancer event will take place this Monday, June 16 at Coppinwood Golf Club in Uxbridge, Ontario. This newest fundraising program will be one of the highest-grossing, single-day golf tournaments supporting the cancer cause across Canada, with proceeds benefiting the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre, one of the top 5 cancer research centres in the world.

Golf to Conquer Cancer is presented by Harry Rosen Inc. in association with national gold sponsors Cadillac Fairview, Rodair International, Great-West Life, London Life & Canada Life. The event will put some of Canada’s pre-eminent business leaders, entrepreneurs and philanthropic supporters on the links to compete for the Rosen Cup and raise funds to support the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre.

Golf is the largest participant sport in Canada, with an estimated nearly six million golfers across Canada. Golf to Conquer Cancer is designed as a premium event with a variety of custom features and benefits that will solidify the event as a unique fundraiser on the calendar and, more importantly, as the largest single-day golf fundraiser for cancer in the country.

Beyond the 18 holes at the sensational Coppinwood Golf Club, participants will have an opportunity to compete for contest hole prizes that include items such as made-to-measure suits from exclusive sponsor brands like Samuelsohn, Zegna and Giorgio Armani, as well as fashion accessories from Paul & Shark & Trafalgar and top of the line golf equipment courtesy of TaylorMade, Ashworth & Adidas. Golfers will also have an opportunity to compete for a $1-Million Hole-In-One prize sponsored by Jones Brown Insurance Brokers, and an additional Hole-In-One prize of an F-Type Convertible courtesy of Jaguar-Land Rover Thornhill. While golfers warm up on the range, others will be treated to a relaxing massage courtesy of Taylor & Colt Barbershop.

“This is going to be a spectacular event,” stated Paul Alofs, President & CEO of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation. “Golf to Conquer Cancer is an exciting and unique twist on the traditional golf fundraiser and has engaged wonderful new supporters. The event sold out quickly, so plans are already in the works for next year. Most importantly, the funds go to support Princess Margaret Cancer Centre leading the way in Personalized Cancer Medicine. We thank all of our supporters, including our sponsors and participants in Golf to Conquer Cancer, for helping The Princess Margaret lead the revolution with this new gold standard in cancer care.”

Larry Rosen, Chairman and CEO of Harry Rosen Inc., and a director on the volunteer board of The Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation, said, “Golf to Conquer Cancer is a wonderful, new event brand that will complement the existing portfolio of events benefiting The Princess Margaret. It will engage a new demographic in a cause they are passionate about and in a sport they love!” Rosen added, “As a company, Harry Rosen believes that it is our responsibility to lend our name and our support to this initiative so that we can all work towards conquering cancer in our lifetime.”
