Newswise — Today’s shutdown of the entire Los Angeles County School District is unprecedented, but was it necessary? What kind of threat would cause such a massive reaction? Texas A&M University Professor of Homeland Security Danny Davis says, “The actions of the LA school board this morning demonstrate the magnitude of this war we are in with radical Islamists. A threatening email, possibly sent from overseas, and 900 schools are closed. In the wake of the San Bernardino shootings could the LA school board afford not to act with caution? Probably not. But the ripples -- economically, politically, socially -- this threat is sending through Southern California pose significant challenges to all levels of government policy makers.” Dr. Davis is available for comment by contacting Lesley Henton at lshenton@tamu.edu.
