A female anglerfish known as the Fanfin Seadevil is seen alive in this video screengrab taken at about 800 meters (2,660 feet) deep in the North Atlantic Ocean.
In this screengrab, a small, parasitic male of the same species is seen on the underside of the large female, attached to her belly. They will remain this way for life.
In this view, the female's bioluminescent fishing apparatus is seen on the far right, and additional pinpoints of light shine from various points along each fin-ray. This has never been seen before in any fish.
