Simple fixes like sealing around windows and doors can help lock heat in the home. When installing blinds, consider honeycomb-style blinds, which trap heat better than vinyl or other kinds of blinds. If you’re using supplemental heat like a fireplace, wood stove, or portable electric heater, make sure to have a fire extinguisher and carbon monoxide detector close by. More house fires occur in the winter than any other season.
