This is a map of Turkmenistan with the Caspian Sea to the left. Gray areas are oil and gas fields, and dotted lines are pipelines. Orange circles show the 776 methane plumes seen in satellite images between 1986 and 2011. Results show more and bigger methane plumes after 1991, with only a few sites responsible for most of these leaks.
