Editorial Tip: Omit Your Organization’s Name in the Headline

Please allow us to offer you some advice while you’re coming up with that snappy, attention-getting headline to your latest news release:

Keep your organization’s name out of it!

In a recent analysis of 130 releases, we’ve found that articles where the institution’s name were not in the headline received 20 percent more views than those that had the institute’s name in them.

Remember, on Newswise, your organization’s name will be listed as the “source” prominently wherever the link to your article appears.  Our editorial team is here to offer any advice on altering a headline to help get more eyeballs on your news.
