SMU ANNOUNCES LINEUP FOR 1999-2000 TATE LECTURE SERIES

DALLAS (SMU) The 1999-2000 season of Southern Methodist University's Willis M. Tate Distinguished Lecture Series features a best-selling author/historian, a ground-breaking scientist, an award-winning composer, Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winners and internationally renowned political leaders and commentators.

The Milledge A. Hart, III Lecture
Moderator:
David Gergen- Commentator, editor and adviser to Presidents Reagan and Clinton.
Panelists:
Cokie Roberts- Co-anchor of the ABCNews program This Week with Sam Donaldson and Cokie Roberts and ABCNews special correspondent covering politics.
William Safire- Pulitzer Prize-winning reporter and political columnist for The New York Times.

Archbishop Desmond Tutu- Nobel Prize winner and former general secretary of the South African Council of Churches.

The Tolleson Lecture

Marvin Hamlisch- Composer/conductor who has won Oscars, Grammys, Emmys, Golden Globes, a Tony award and the Pulitzer Prize for his works for film, stage and concert hall.
