Newswise — The American College of Radiology’s (ACR) Radiology Leadership Institute™ (RLI) recently launched its first-ever Harvard Emerging Leaders Seminar — a one-of-a-kind, web-based program, that offers a Harvard Business Publishing curriculum in an online cohort-based setting designed specifically for radiology professionals. The initial August – November 2012 seminar sold out in two weeks — before it could be made widely available to those beyond current RLI enrollees. However, the next seminar will be held February 6 – May 1, 2013. Dates for future offerings of the emerging leader’s seminar will be announced in the coming months.

The emerging leader’s seminar will include three separate learning modules that focus on personal leadership, managing change and business and financial acumen. Each module will include business case studies, articles, simulations and tutorials delivered in a collaborative, participant-centered setting. Coursework will address issues that come up in private practice and academic settings, and will include leading radiologists as co-moderators throughout the seminar.

During the seminar, participants will attend live virtual faculty sessions with renowned Harvard Business School professors and radiology co-moderators. The sessions will be held once a week from 7–8:30 p.m. ET. The first seminar will include Lynda M. Applegate, the Sarofim-Rock Professor of Business Administration at Harvard Business School. Applegate serves as the head of the Entrepreneurial Management Unit at Harvard Business School and also serves as the faculty chair of the Owner Portfolio of executive programs.

In addition to attending the live virtual sessions with Harvard Business School faculty, participants will have direct access to Harvard Business Publishing content, including e-learning modules, articles, videos, podcasts and simulations; participate in Harvard Business School case discussions facilitated by expert radiology co-moderators; and learn by doing through action learning projects and other activities tailored specifically for their organization. Participants will also receive a complimentary one-year subscription to the Harvard Business Review.

“The RLI’s Harvard Emerging Leaders Seminar was jointly developed in partnership with Harvard Business Publishing with today’s busy radiology professionals in mind. Whether you are in private practice or academia, running a successful radiology practice can at times be hectic. Our goal is to help participants integrate key leadership concepts into their practice quickly and effectively,” said Cynthia S. Sherry, MD, FACR, medical director of the RLI and chair of the ACR Commission on Leadership and Practice Development.

At the conclusion of the seminar participants will have continued access to course materials, online discussions, program recordings and an ongoing peer community.

Participants must be enrolled in RLI in order to register for the RLI Harvard Emerging Leaders Seminar.
