Newswise — Babson American Studies (and pop culture expert) prof Jeffrey Melnick is prepared to talk about how 9/11 has affected everything - so that we are a transformed society. Teaching business students how to move forward with this new awareness is his challenge - filled with possibility. Melnick writes:

While many commentators in the media have taken note of how the politics of the United States have changed since (and as a result of 9/11) many fewer people have explored how the culture of the United States has been transformed by the event. For the past few years, as a specialist in American popular culture and immigration history, I have been teaching a course on the "culture of 9/11" to undergraduates. The course examines all manner of cultural "texts"--from rumors, to popular music to Steven Spielberg's recent trilogy of 9/11 movies--to begin coming to terms with the realities of living in a "9/11 culture."

Melnick is, most recently, co-author of a book titled Immigration and American Popular Culture due out this fall from NYU Press.
