Newswise — Eastpointe, MI - The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA) has elected NECABA Management Group’s President, Dr. Herbert G. Ford, as its Chairman of the Board. Ford had served as a board member since 1999. He is also the pastor of Good Shepherd Missionary Baptist Church in Southfield, Michigan.

“I met Virginia Ladd (AARDA’s Executive Director) years ago and she explained the work that AARDA does and it perked my interest. I was fascinated and I wanted to be involved. I also have a personal connection as I have a daughter who has multiple sclerosis,” said Ford.

Ford’s new role has a two-year tenure. One of his immediate goals is getting more minority organizations to participate with volunteerism and fundraising. He will continue to utilize his resources to raise funds and awareness for those struggling with autoimmune disease.

“I am ecstatic about Dr. Ford’s continued involvement with AARDA. His consistency, reliability and dedication to autoimmune disease awareness are unmatched. We look forward to building on our successes and exploring more research opportunities,” said Ladd.

About NECABA:NECABA Management Group Inc has been providing Administrative Management to Michigan since 1990.

About the American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association (AARDA):The American Autoimmune Related Diseases Association is dedicated to the eradication of autoimmune diseases and the alleviation of suffering and the socioeconomic impact of autoimmunity through fostering and facilitating collaboration in the areas of education, public awareness, research, and patient services in an effective, ethical and efficient manner.

AARDA is the only national nonprofit health agency dedicated to bringing a national focus to autoimmunity, the major cause of serious chronic diseases. Approximately 50 million Americans, 20 percent of the population or one in five people, suffer from autoimmune diseases. Women are more likely than men to be affected; some estimates say that 75 percent of those affected--some 37.5 million people--are women. Still, with these statistics, autoimmunity is rarely discussed as a women's health issue.
