C-SPAN'S BRIAN LAMB IS URSINUS COMMENCEMENT SPEAKER

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. -- Brian Lamb, president and on-air host of C-SPAN, will be the speaker at the Ursinus College Commencement at 10 a.m., Saturday May 15, on the front lawn of the campus. Lamb is a founder of C-SPAN, the Cable Satellite Public Affairs Network, and has served as the non-profit company's chief executive officer since its founding. C-SPAN began in 1979 by televising House of Representative proceedings, added Senate proceedings in 1986 and now has three television and two audio networks.

Lamb, a graduate of Purdue University who served in the U.S. Navy, was a reporter, press spokesman for the Pentagon, assistant to the director of the Office of Telecommunications Policy in the White House, and Cablevision Magazine's Washington bureau chief. During the ceremonies, he will be awarded an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters by Ursinus President John Strassburger.

Ursinus will also grant 350 undergraduate degrees to members of the Class of 1999, and four other honorary degrees.

Ursinus College, founded in 1869, is a highly selective, nationally ranked, independent, coeducational liberal arts college, located on a scenic, wooded, 165 acre campus 28 miles from Center City Philadelphia.
