The dispute over charter schools is ongoing across the country with the California Teachers Association planning a march in Sacramento this week as civil rights groups defend charter schools.
Joshua Glazer, associate professor of education policy at the George Washington University, recently co-edited the book Choosing Charters: Better Schools or More Segregation? (2018), which addresses questions about the purposes of charter schools and the role of public policy in shaping the educational agenda.
In addition to charter schools, Glazers’s research and teaching examines multiple approaches to improving under-performing schools in high-poverty, urban environments. He has appeared as a guest on the GW Graduate School of Education and Human Development produced podcast, EdFix discussing the goals, challenges, and outcomes of the charter movement.
