GENERAL COLIN POWELL, BUSINESS AND INDUSTRY LEADERS, LOCAL STUDENTS SHARE MENTORING EXPERIENCES AT KICK-OFF RALLY

Washington, D.C. -- General Colin L. Powell, USA (Ret), chairman of America's Promise -- The Alliance for Youth, will join Michael S. Olson, CEO of the American Society of Association Executives (ASAE) along with local students and their mentors as part of a rally to build support, awareness and to challenge others to participate in Groundhog Job Shadow Day 2000.

Job Shadow Day 2000 is an initiative to engage students in the world of work. On February 2nd one million students across America will get an up-close look at how the skills they learn in school are put into action in the workplace. Leaders from the banking, restaurant and hospitality, philanthropic, technology, and other industries will share their experiences in mentoring these students. Groundhog Job Shadow Day is a year-long national effort in collaboration with America's Promise, The National School-to-Work Office, Junior Achievement and the American Society of Association Executives.
