Media Advisory " 40th Anniversary Commemoration of Civil Rights Murders Planned in Neshoba County, MississippiCommunity-wide program set for 2 p.m. June 20 at Neshoba County Coliseum

The Philadelphia Coalition, a 30-member multi-racial task force, invites media representatives to the 40th anniversary commemoration of the deaths of three civil rights workers Sunday (June 20) in Neshoba County, Miss. All media are directed to the Neshoba County Coliseum, 12000 Highway 15 North.

At a 2 p.m. community-wide ceremony at the coliseum, author Alice Walker and former Gov. William Winter will speak. A special 4 p.m. memorial service at Mt. Zion United Methodist Church features remarks by family of the deceased and the Rev. Clay F. Lee, a retired United Methodist bishop. The 4 p.m. service is authorized by church trustees and will be the only service at the church. Only pool media will be allowed to attend the church service.

Although the service will be restricted to pool media, video and audio feeds will be available. From 3:45-5:45 p.m. (CST), a live feed of the service is accessible from coordinates Galaxy 10, transponder K-23, downlink frequency 12160 MHz, and uplink frequency 14460 MHz. A satellite truck will be available for tape or live feeds through 6:30 p.m. (CST) newscasts.

The memorial service will be broadcast live via closed-circuit in the coliseum where a press room with dial-up access will be available to the media.
