John Dinan, professor of politics and international affairs at Wake Forest University in North Carolina, can provide a North Carolina perspective on the presidential race and comment on the role of redistricting in North Carolina congressional races.

Dinan is an expert on voting trends in North Carolina and can address the role early voting may have in the outcome of the presidential election.

On the congressional front, Dinan says, “The consequences of the latest round of redistricting are evident in a number of states but are particularly important in North Carolina’s congressional races. North Carolina’s current delegation of 7 Democrats and 6 Republicans could shift as a result of next week’s elections to a 9-4 Republican advantage or possibly a 10-3 Republican advantage.” Although this is partly a consequence of long-term trends and the realignment of southern politics, Dinan says this year’s changes are spurred to a significant extent by a redistricting process where Republicans controlled the state legislature for the first time in well over a century.

Dinan has access to a broadcast studio.
