Newswise — His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama of Tibet will make his first-ever visit to Palm Beach County, Florida on Wednesday, February 24, when he visits Florida Atlantic University for a public lecture titled “Compassion as a Pillar of World Peace.” His Holiness will address FAU’s students, faculty, staff and members of the general community beginning at 10 a.m. in the FAU arena. The event is one of four events His Holiness will make when he visits South Florida.

“Florida Atlantic University is honored to host the Dalai Lama, a true messenger of peace, compassion and understanding,” said FAU Interim President John Pritchett. “This is a historic moment for the university and truly a wonderful educational opportunity for our students, faculty, staff and community. His Holiness will undoubtedly provide words of inspiration and thought.”

On Monday, January 18, FAU students, faculty and staff will be able to go to www.fau.edu/peace and enter a lottery for a free ticket. Beginning Tuesday, January 19, the online sale of tickets will be made available to the general public. Floor tickets will be available for $75/ticket. Raised bleacher style seating will be available for $49/ticket. To purchase tickets, visit www.fau.edu/peace. FAU will also host a series of events on its campuses leading up to His Holiness’ visit during “Expressions of Peace Week,” which will begin on Wednesday, February 17.
