U.S.-Latin American Relations: Rebecca Evans, assistant professor in the Ursinus College Politics and international Relations Department, has been interviewed on recent events in South America, including legal proceedings against former Chilean Dictator Augusto Pinochet, elections in Uruguay, Brazil and Chile, and social movements and economic reform in Argentina by Reuters, UPI and international radio programs.Her current research focuses on human rights in South America, where prosecutions of military officials charged with human rights abuses and changes in civil-military relations have been in the news. She has written for the Council on Hemispheric Affairs, where she is a senior research fellow. Professor Evans holds a Ph.D. from Harvard, and an MA and BS from Purdue University. She was a Fulbright Scholar at the University of Cologne. U.S. Relations in Middle East and Africa:The Hon. Joseph Melrose, Professor in the Ursinus College Politics and International Relations Department, is the former U.S. Ambassador to Sierra Leone (retired in 2001). As a volunteer consultant for the international Medical Corps in the summer of 2003 in Iraq, he examined the infrastructure and need to rebuild. His expertise is in human rights abuses, foreign policy, international organizations and diplomacy and especially, diamonds from West Africa and how they are financing the terror network. He was invited to testify before a Senate Subcommittee hearing on "Illicit Diamonds, Conflict and Terrorism: The Role of U.S. Agencies in Fighting the Conflict Diamond Trade." Melrose served on the State Department's Crisis Task Force after Sept. 11, 2001. He is a 1966 graduate of Ursinus College and holds a master's degree from Temple University.

Managed Care:Catherine Anne Chambliss, Chair of the Ursinus College Department of Psychology, holds a B.A. from Yale University and an M.S. and Ph.D. from the University of Miami.She is the author of "Psychotherapy and Managed Care: Reconciling Research and Reality," Allyn & Bacon, 1999, and has written articles on managed mental health care. Her research focus is on working mothers, childcare, abnormal psychology and self-esteem. She is a licensed clinical psychologist in private practice since 1981, working with individuals, couples and families and conducting psychological evaluations and assessments, and a consultant/trainer for organizations and corporations.She is also the author of "Group Involvement Training : A Step-By-Step Program to Help Chronic Mentally Ill Patients," New Harbinger Publications, 1988.
