Margaret Thatcher changed the world, not only by breaking through the gender barrier among European prime ministers, but through more than a decade of thoughtful and decisive leadership in Britain. Today, hundreds of thousands nationwide are mourning the death of one of the most noteworthy political figures of the 20th century.

Former ambassador for the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe Todd Becker, who served in countries throughout Europe during 34 years with the U.S. State Department, noted Thatcher’s importance in addressing East-West relations, particularly her willingness to open dialogue with Soviet leader Mikhael Gorbachev, and her role in the fall of the Berlin Wall.

Today on faculty at Salisbury University, Becker is available to speak with media about Thatcher’s legacy as it relates to Britain, Europe and the world. To schedule an interview, call the SU Public Relations Office at 410-543-6030 or e-mail [email protected].
