Qualified High School and Transfer Students Are Eligible to Apply
Newswise — FORT LAUDERDALE-DAVIE, Fla. – Nova Southeastern University (NSU) continues to offer the NSU Trustee Florida Academic Scholarship, a full-tuition scholarship for eligible students. The scholarship has been offered to first-time students, including transfer students, at NSU for three years. In conjunction with state and federal funds, this award equals a full-tuition scholarship for eligible students. Additional funds are also available for students who choose to live on campus.
“The NSU Trustee Florida Academic Scholarship is the reason that I am able to attend NSU. When I learned about this opportunity I transferred from the University of Florida,” said sophomore Janelle Alongi, from Davie. “I am currently pursuing a degree in Athletic Training and hope to continue my graduate studies at NSU in the Physical Therapy Program.”
“These students deserve every opportunity to continue their private education, and NSU is able to make that happen for these bright young Floridians,” said NSU Chancellor Ray Ferrero, Jr., J.D. “We named the scholarship after our Trustees because of their support and belief in this scholarship for our students.”
“Everyone who has the passion and desire should have the opportunity to receive a quality education so they can be better equipped to pursue their dreams and ambitions,” said George L. Hanbury, Ph.D., NSU president and COO. “It is rewarding to be part of an educational institution that makes students’ aspirations more accessible.” Eligibility requirements for this full academic scholarship award are as follows:
• 3.5 grade point average; • 1270 SAT (Critical Reading and Math) or 28 Composite ACT; • 75 community-service hours;• 15 credits of college preparatory academic courses; •First-time enrollee at NSU in fall 2011; •First-time in college student, graduating from an accredited Florida high school in May 2011; •Full-time enrollment in an undergraduate program at NSU’s main campus in Ft. Lauderdale; •Must apply for and receive Florida Residency Access Grant (FRAG); and •Must apply for all other eligible grants.
Transfer students must have met eligibility criteria in high school and maintained that status.
To apply, students need to fill out the Trustee Florida Academic Scholarship application, complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), and NSU State Aid application forms.
