Race in America: Katya Gibel Mevorach, associate professor of anthropology at Grinnell College, conducts research on race, racism, American culture, and class and ethnicity.

Kesho Scott, associate professor of American studies and sociology at Grinnell College, teaches courses in American cultural values, social movements, racial inequality and oppression, race and ethnicity.

Poverty and socioeconomic disparities: Monty Roper, associate professor of anthropology, conducts research and teaches courses dealing with issues of poverty and socioeconomic disparities on a global level, as well as sustainable development. He also conducts research on the role of NGOs in development, and indigenous peoples and their social movements.

Eliza Willis, professor of political science, can comment on poverty in the developing world. She teaches courses in Latin American politics, political economy of development, and international political economy and has done extensive research in Latin America, especially Brazil, Chile and Costa Rica..

Bill Ferguson, professor of economics, has background in macroeconomics--specifically fiscal policy, taxes, income distribution, and how institutions shape economic growth.
